Bugbane – A Plant of Great Depth
I find it interesting how we often see attractive native plants in gardens before we see them in the wild! I first saw Bugbane, botanically known as Actaea (formerly Cimicifuga) racemosa at the home and garden of Fred and Mary Ann McGourty.

Diervilla – No Codling Required
I have long concluded that plants requiring little to no attention are often overlooked in favor of those dependent upon endless hours of care and codling. The first time I was introduced to Northern Bush Honeysuckle, botanically known as Diervilla lonicera, was around 1990.

With the chills of late March and the adequate April showers behind us, early May looks to provide a very nice assortment of spring blooming plants. Although rather chilly for those looking forward to those summer days of 90 degrees, the cool weather will allow spring blooms to last and to be enjoyed to their fullest!

Solomon’s Seal – ‘Knee Deep’ in Garden Worth Forms
As a gardener, I am always searching for interesting, low growing plants to incorporate into designs. A garden will have more depth and visual interest if the lower levels, typically home to herbaceous plants, do not all mature to the same height. Rather, it is best if there is a variety, ranging from of ground hugging forms to those near knee height.
