Helping GCNJ Members Become Accomplished Horticulturists
The National Garden Club Gardening Study School Courses are designed to provide information to those who are especially interested in gardening, horticulture and related topics. The program consists of a series of 4 courses, each scheduled over 2 days with an optional exam on the morning of the 3rd day. In 2020 Course III will cover topics such as Houseplant Basics, Container Gardening, New Plant Development and Evaluation, Factors that Influence Plant Growth, A Teaching Tour of a Botanical Garden and Plant Hybridizing.
The GSS Program is intended for garden club members; however, the courses are also open to the general public and Master Gardeners earn 10 CEUs for taking the 2 day course. Garden club members who complete the series of 4 courses are awarded the status of Gardening Consultant. Attendees from the general public also qualify for certification as a Consultant by joining a garden club during the course series or shortly after completion of the Program.
